A library card is free if you are a resident of the City of Orillia. Reciprocal borrowing agreements exist with Barrie and Midland Public libraries. Upon presentation of a valid Barrie or Midland  library membership and current address notification, an Orillia Public Library card will be issued free of charge. Orillia Public Library members are entitled to the same privilege at Barrie and Midland  public libraries.

An agreement also exists with Georgian College and Lakehead University. Upon presentation of a valid Georgian College student or library card and current address identification, an Orillia Public Library card will be issued free of charge. Orillia Public Library members are entitled to the same privilege at the Library Commons at Georgian College.
Lakehead students must obtain a letter indicating proof of enrollment from their Library.  Upon presentation of this letter along with photo and current address notification, an Orillia Public Library card will be issued free of charge.  If you are not eligible for a free library card, a household membership can be purchased at the following rates: $150 for one year, $80 for six months, and $15 for one month.

NEW - Beginning Monday, May 26, 2014: Residents and property owners in the Township of Oro-Medonte and the Township of Severn will no longer have free memberships at the Orillia Public Library. If these residents wish to purchase a 12 month membership for $150, there is a $75 rebate available.  Please see Library staff at the Checkout Desk for details. (There is no rebate available for a 6 month or 1 month membership.)
