2018 Programs

Winter Reading Club
Like Summer Reading Club, only shorter and colder! This club is for ages 0-18! Read what you want, tell our Library staff all about it, and enter to win prizes. We have prize draws to beat the winter blues, a Snapchat book club for teens, and book wizards to find your next great read. This is a free club and will run until the Friday before March Break. Ask us how to sign up!

Coding with Robots (FULL)
Mondays in January
4-5 p.m.,

Ages 8+ We start on January 8 and meet Mondays until March Break. Registered, Limited Space, Free. *This session is 4 weeks long, there will be another 4 week session beginning February 5. Develop your early coding skills with our Dot and Dash robots. This program is supported by Lakehead Education students. Registration required, Free, ages 8+, please contact Children's Services to Register.

Circle of Readers (FULL)
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays

5-7:30 p.m. (begins on January 8th)
Do you have a child who could benefit from one on one tutoring? Sign up for a timeslot with a Lakehead Education student in our Circle of Readers program. Timeslots are available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Space is limited; please contact Children's Services to register, free, for students in Grades 1-6.

Minecraft Makers,
Tuesdays 5-7 p.m. (January 16 to Feburary 20)
Children's Department, Free, No registration required.
Calling all 'Crafters! Bring your family and make real-world versions of familiar objects from your favourite game - blocks, jack o'lanterns, and mobs! Drop-in between 5-7 p.m. every Tuesday night.

Family Art Night,
Wednesdays 5-7 p.m. (January 17 to February 21)
Children's Department, Free, No Registration Required
Bring the whole family to create a one of a kind work of art. We'll try a different art project each week, we provide all the materials and you supply the creativity. No registration required, free! Drop in any time between 5 and 7 p.m.

Family Mad Science
Thursdays 5-7 p.m.

(January 18 to February 22)
Children's Department, Free, no Registration Required.
Tinker, test, build, blast, mix, and mess... with science we ask why, and then we try! From rockets to rainbows, and experiments to explosions, we will have amazing kid-approved science projects available each week. Who knew that science could be so cool? Drop in and see us at the OPL, because SCIENCE ROCKS!
