How do I get a Library card?

Anyone may use the library facilities, including the Internet and the CD ROM computer station.  However, if you wish to borrow library materials or join a program you or your child must have a library membership card.

If you are a resident of the City of Orillia, the townships of Oro Medonte or Severn, or Mnjikaning First Nation, you may obtain a membership card.  Drop by the front desk and fill out an application.

What are my responsibilities?

  1. You must present your library card when borrowing books and other library materials. It is also needed to access various services available on this web site.
  2. Your library card is for your individual use only. It is not transferable.
  3. You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card. If your card is lost or stolen, please let our Circulation Department know right away so we can prevent others from using it.
  4. There is a $2.00 charge for replacing your lost card.
  5. Please let us know if you move or change your telephone number.
  6. Your card is permanent. However, every year we need to renew it and verify that our information is correct.

How long can I keep library materials?

You may keep books, magazines, tapes and multimedia kits for up to 4 weeks. CDs and CD ROMS must be returned in 2 weeks. Videos and DVDs may be borrowed for 2-7 days.

What are my library card privileges?

Your library card allows you to borrow books (including board books, picture books, beginning readers and books in French), children's magazines, cassettes and cassette kits, CD-ROMS, storytelling kits, as well parent's collection materials.

In addition, join in on Story Times, Saturday Programs, Summer Reader's Club and Read To Me Club, as well as March Break and Christmas Break Programs.

How can I check what I have out on my card?
