The Orillia Public Library strives to provide services and programs that are accessible to community members of all abilities, and comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

The Library provides materials in multiple formats to help meet the needs of all of our community members. Formats include:

  • Large print books

  • DVDs (many have subtitle options)

  • Books on CD

  • Downloadable eBooks (with adjustable text size)

  • Downloadable eAudiobooks

  • Online Databases (many of which include accessibility features such as text to speech and adjustable text size)

CELA provides services to public library members with print disabilities. Eligible patrons of all ages will find a broad range of choices including audio, braille, e-text and described video, delivered both physically and digitally, depending on the your preference.

The Library has three DAISY players available to be borrowed by library card holders for up to four weeks at a time. DAISY players are portable CD players with brightly coloured tactile buttons that make them ideal for patrons who have trouble reading regular print. Our DAISY players can play DAISY books on CD or standard MP3 audiobooks. For more information please see a staff member, email us at info@orilliapubliclibrary.ca or call 705-325-2556.

Are you or somebody you know unable to visit the Library? Let us bring the library to you! This service is available to customers with a valid Library card who are confined to their home. Library material will be selected with the customer's personal preferences in mind and then delivered when requested.  Register now.  Call 705-325-2556 for more information.

 The Orillia Public Library building is accessible, and includes:

We are able to offer a number of features and technology to assist you including:

  • Speech to text

  • NVDA and Google text to speech reader

  • Headsets 
  • ZoomText large print keyboard

  • Track ball mouse

OPL is committed to making this website accessible and easy to use for everyone, at all levels of ability. This website allows people using text-only browsers or other assistive technology to read the content on the page, including text descriptions for all images. It also features adjustable text size.
