Welcome to the Orillia Public Library’s Memories Media Lab!

Preserve your cherished memories by converting old photos, videos, 8mm reels, slides, negatives, and cassette tapes into digital formats. With equipment in the Local History Room and Makerspace, it’s easy to save and share your memories for years to come! The Memories Media Lab was possible with support from the Community Foundation of Orillia and Area.

  • Equipment is available by appointment. Once you have completed the booking request form, we will get back to you within two business days to confirm your appointment.
  • Users must be 13 years or older and have an Orillia Public Library Membership in good standing.

Things to Know Before Your Appointment

  • You’ll manage your project, but staff are available to guide you and assist.
  • Digitization can take time. Please stay with your media during the transfer process and consult Makerspace staff for an estimated time for your project.
  • Bring a USB flash drive, external hard drive, or cloud storage login to save your files. If you're not sure about how to save your files, please consult with Makerspace staff.
  • Arriving more than 15 minutes late may result in your appointment being cancelled. Please call 705-325-2556 to let us know if you're running late.
  • All Memories Media Lab Equipment is free to use, unless otherwise stated. 
  • USB flash drives, CDs and DVDs are available for purchase in the Makerspace.
