Orillia Public Library Board

The Orillia Public Library Board provides oversight and guidance to the library. The Library Board has eleven members, appointed by Orillia City Council who serve for a four year term concurrent with the term of Council.

The Board is composed of:

  • 2 City Council Representatives
  • 7 Citizens-at-large who must be eligible electors of the City of Orillia
  • 1 Representative nominated by the Council of Oro-Medonte Township
  • 1 Representative nominated by the Council of Severn Township

The City Council representatives are chosen by Council when it takes office after a municipal election. The Orillia City Clerk's Department advertises the Library Board openings for Citizens-at large in the local newspaper prior to each municipal election, and also requests nominations for the Oro-Medonte Township and Severn Township seats.

Any interested citizen may apply to Council by submitting an application.  (Please note that applicants may be interviewed.)  If vacancies occur on the Library Board during its term of office, appointees are selected in the manner described above.

Please visit the City's Boards and Committees Page for additional information.
