We have some great volunteer opportunities for teens who need to earn community service hours!  Earn hours from home with our Book and Video Game Review program.  (Teens can begin volunteering with us once they have graduated from Grade 8 and must be Library members.  Don't have a membership?  Find out how to get one.)

Teens: Volunteer Book Reviewer
Share what books you’ve loved and what you didn’t by becoming a volunteer book reviewer! Each book review will earn you five hours of service.
Submit an application.

Teens: Volunteer Game Reviewer
Share what video games you’ve loved and what you didn’t by becoming a volunteer game reviewer! Each game review will earn you four hours of service.
Submit an application.

Please note: We are only accepting volunteers within our service area.

Please note: We are not accepting new adult volunteer applications at this time (with the exception of SPICE).

Current adult volunteer opportunities include:

 Knit a Twiddlemuff
We are currently accepting donations of Twiddlemuffs which will be distributed to local nursing homes this winter.  A Twiddlemuff is a knitted muff with tactile items attached so that people with dementia can keep their hands warm and busy. View the Twiddlemuff pattern.  You may drop off your completed Twiddlemuffs during our Curbside Pickup hours.  Email us for more information.
SPICE (Seniors Partnering with Immigrants in Conversation Exchanges)

SPICE (Seniors Partnering with Immigrants in Conversation Exchanges) connects seniors looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity with immigrants who wish to practice their English language skills. One-on-one conversation exchanges provide newcomers with an opportunity for enhanced language learning in a friendly and informal environment. A conversation exchange can be as simple as sharing recipes or family stories, discussing politics, chatting about popular culture, or debating opinions over coffee. This is a fun and flexible program designed to foster friendship and understanding. Training and resources are provided for volunteers, and the commitment is flexible (suggested one hour per week).

Volunteers must be age 55 or older, be proficient in English (or French), be patient, appreciate diversity, complete Cultural Competency Training (provided) and obtain a criminal record check (existing Library volunteers who have already completed the check may not require a second record check). If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a volunteer with SPICE, please email us.
